Position Title: Housing Specialist

Supervisor: Program Manager

Location: Citrus County

Work Schedule: Full Time

SUMMARY: The Housing Specialist shall provide direct services to enable eligible clients to locate affordable, safe and sanitary housing. The Housing Specialist will network with owners and managers of housing units, and maintain a list of landlords that can readily assist our clients.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Responsible for identifying and engaging landlords through a variety of methods in order to develop sufficient affordable housing stock for RRH program

* Assists eligible families in locating and renting suitable housing; computing and preparing financing arrangements and monitoring owner/tenant compliance with standards

* Maintain linkage between Agency, landlord and client

* Develop and maintain (i.e., update) a database/listing of available housing stock for clients

* Responsible for coordinating and/or performing Housing Inspection

* Makes referrals to agencies and departments for the resolution of applicant housing issues

* Investigates tenant and owner complaints and conducts follow-up visits

* Makes appropriate referrals for assistance when client’s needs cannot be met

* Maintains required client, legal and administrative record and statistical data as required by SVdPSP and program funders including use of HSMIs

* Responsible for collecting all necessary documentation for client files

* Networks and collaborates with other agencies and represents the agency at community functions, which may include public speaking and presentations as directed by Program Manager

* All other duties as assigned

* Demonstrates a commitment to serve all people with respect and compassion

* Works in a spirit of cooperation with all external and internal stakeholders

* Valid Florida driver’s license and clean driving record if driving an agency vehicle or a personal vehicle for company business.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES

* This position requires a minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field

* Minimum two years’ experience serving homeless or at-risk families and/or individuals in crisis


Position Title: Peer Mentor

Supervisor: Program Manager

Location: Citrus County

Work Schedule: Full Time

SUMMARY: The Peer Mentor provides direct outreach and pre-screening to potential individuals interested in enrolling in the Supportive Services for Veteran Families Program. Qualified candidate must possess a clear understanding of the service delivery system and the resources available for veterans and their families. Individual will provide peer support, mentoring, and coaching to SSVF program participants to help them access and navigate community and veteran resources. This individual will also serve as a quality assurance representative to veteran households accessing SSVF funds and participate as a member of the strengths based Case Management team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Outreach

* Identify locations frequented by potential veteran applicants (including veteran family members)

* Provide direct outreach to veterans and their families in their naturally occurring environments (i.e. home visits and community visits)

* Engage and build rapport with target population

* Provide identification of and pre-screening for eligibility of potential applicants

* Coordinate initial screening and assessment with Case Management team

* Participate in Stand Downs and other VA/community outreach activities

Support

* Provide peer support, mentoring, and coaching to SSVF participants through assistance in navigating and accessing veteran and mainstream resources

* Accompany veterans to appointments, when appropriate

* Provide peer support and mentoring in securing permanent housing

* Assist Case Management team in preparing discharge plans and follow-up contact with SSVF program participants

* Complete paperwork and data reports as requested by the Program Manager including use of HSMIS

Networking

* Maintain working relationships with community agencies to provide comprehensive services to participants

* Maintain working relationships with veteran serving organizations

* Attend in-service trainings and outside conferences/workshops, as requested by the Program Manager.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES

* This position is specific to an individual with prior military experience. Experience or education with human services, homelessness, and veteran resources is a plus

* Individual will be responsible for attending a peer support training prior to mentoring participants

* Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
