From the Woods to Welcome Home: Hollywood’s Journey to Hope

At 62 years old, Kenneth “Hollywood” Glenn was living in a makeshift camp in the woods. Each night he returned to a spot pieced together for survival, and each morning he wondered how much longer he could go on this way. After years of incarceration and chronic homelessness, stability seemed out of reach.

That all changed on June 6th 2025,

when — through the housing programs of SVdP CARES and the loving care made possible by donors like you — Hollywood received a key to his own home.

Today, Hollywood takes pride in maintaining his apartment. He shows up to every appointment on time, coordinates his own transportation, and is working with Vocational Rehabilitation to secure employment. From surviving in the woods to thriving in a home of his own, he is now building an independent and hopeful future.

Your Gift Today Makes Transformations like Hollywood’s Possible

This summer, three more people living in the woods — Trisha, Angela, and Sabrina — also found new beginnings:

  • Trisha is restarting her cosmetology career, overcoming transportation hurdles with creativity and determination.
  • Angela has joyfully embraced her second chance, turning four bare walls into a warm home.
  • Sabrina extends compassion to others still in the woods, even as she prepares for vocational training and steady employment.

Because of the life-giving resources provided through the Charlotte CARE Center and SVdP CARES, they now have safety and stability.

Will you give a one-time or monthly gift today to help more neighbors step out of the woods and into a home?

These four remarkable people remind us that housing changes everything. Once hidden away in the woods, they are now safe, stable, and filled with hope.

But for every Hollywood, Trisha, Angela, and Sabrina, dozens more are still out there tonight — waiting for help, waiting for hope.

That’s Where You Come In

When you give to the Charlotte CARE Center, you make these transformations possible. Your support provides shelter, meals, case management, and the pathway to permanent housing. Because of you, neighbors who once felt forgotten can rebuild their lives.

Will you make a one-time or monthly gift right now so that tomorrow, we can share even more stories of transformation?

Your generosity is the key to offering both loving care and life-giving resources that turn just surviving into thriving. Every dollar makes a difference, and every gift brings another neighbor home.

With deep gratitude,
