Give Hope This Thanksgiving: Help Families Like Tammie’s Find Home and Healing

In this season of gratitude and thanks, I want to share a story of hope and transformation that would not have been possible without you.

A victim of domestic violence, Tammie had the courage to flee from her abuser to a shelter, ensuring that she and her two young children would be safe from harm. Homeless and uncertain, she found love and new hope from the passionate staff of St. Vincent de Paul CARES. Relying on her resourcefulness and grit, coupled with the support of SVdP CARES, and the generosity of donors like you, she forged a path forward. In just 59 days, Tammie and her children found a new home. No longer traumatized by abuse and homelessness, they were on the road to a future of gratitude and joy.

Once housed, Tammie was determined to become financially independent and self reliant as quickly as possible. She says that she gives thanks to her SVdP CARES case manager who walked with her through this most challenging time, and who helped keep her accountable. In just three and a half months, Tammie was able to pay her rent completely on her own!

Your Thanksgiving donation makes Tammie’s dreams come true, a life of joy and abundance. Tammie dreams of being able to buy a car so she can travel with her kids and buy a home.

Today, she ensures that her family has a life that will afford them all that their hearts can imagine. She rides her motorcycle to work, picking up extra shifts, to increase monthly household income. Tammie has made her house into a home where her children feel love and are safe. In her outdoor garden, Tammie has created a special space where she has memorials for family members who have passed. After all, family is what Thanksgiving is all about.

Tammie’s case manager says that she, “refuses to let life knock her down and continues to strive for success daily. No matter what hurdles she has faced, she always stands strong and keeps a positive attitude.”

With nearly an 80% success rate of ending homelessness, your gift to SVdP CARES this Thanksgiving assures that with hard work, determination, and a loving community of support, moms like Tammie and her children can believe that there are blessed todays and bright tomorrows.

The need is great, and there are more families waiting to be helped. Your gift changes the trajectories of lives and reassures families that there is a way out of trauma and fear, by helping them find a new home and supporting their paths to long-term success.

Sincerely,

Michael Raposa
CEO, SVdP CARES

PS : Because of your generous giving, this year, Tammie and her children will celebrate Thanksgiving in their home, safe, hopeful, and grateful.
