Heroes’ Village: A New Beginning for Veterans in Sarasota

We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone in our mission to support veterans and provide safe, affordable housing. St. Vincent de Paul CARES has partnered with the City of Sarasota to launch Heroes’ Village, a groundbreaking housing project dedicated to our nation’s heroes.

Heroes’ Village is a testament to what can be achieved when communities come together with a shared vision. This innovative development, located in Sarasota’s Newtown area, features ten two-bedroom apartments designed to offer veterans a dignified and stable living environment. The City of Sarasota generously donated the land, and with the support of the Gulf Coast Community Foundation, we have brought this vision to life.

Our CEO, Michael Raposa, emphasized the importance of this project:

We believe that every veteran deserves a place to call home, regardless of their income. Heroes’ Village is not just about providing housing; it’s about offering a comprehensive support system that includes health care, job opportunities, and mental health services to help our veterans thrive.”

The ribbon-cutting ceremony held on May 1st marked the completion of this $3 million development. The apartments are now ready to welcome their first residents, with move-ins expected to begin by mid-May. This project is a beacon of hope for veterans who have faced homelessness and the rising costs of living.

We are incredibly proud of this partnership and the positive impact it will have on our community. Heroes’ Village is more than just a housing complex; it is a community where veterans can find stability, support, and a sense of belonging. As we continue to build similar units across Florida, we remain committed to our mission of ending homelessness and providing permanent housing solutions for those who have served our country.
