This year, let’s build on hope…

Do you ever stop and think about how lucky you are to have a roof over your head?

So many folks are having a hard time affording a safe, permanent home these days.

And no wonder. The price of housing has increased . . . insurance companies have quadrupled prices . . . the cost of food and utilities is through the roof.

Even those who have homes and jobs are suffering from hunger. Families in Florida are really struggling to make ends meet.

SVdP CARES does all it can to help, but to be frank—it’s challenging to keep up with the rising need. In fact, the number of homeless neighbors is so high that St. Vincent de Paul CARES’ waitlist for our rapid re-housing program just keeps growing. That’s the bad news. The good news is you can do something to help.

A gift, no matter the size, will help a vulnerable person get back on their feet. You’ll rapidly reconnect people with housing and provide them with healthy, delicious food at our newly renovated Food Center.

You’ll also give families access to employment services, legal services, child care, financial planning help, and more resources that help them avoid homelessness in the future.

Here’s who YOU helped in 2023

Leonard, a U.S. Army Veteran, is still living with his family of 10 in a house that St. Vincent de Paul CARES helped him find.

When COVID hit, Leonard’s landlord gave him 10 days to find a new place to live. No one wanted to help Leonard except St. Vincent de Paul CARES. “It’s a blessing to have places like St. Vincent de Paul CARES that helps Veterans,” Leonard says. “There should be a program like this in every state.”

Valerie, a large-hearted grandma whose daughter and granddaughter were all
living in her car . . . Today all are thriving and living in the same home SVdP CARES found for them. Valerie is doing very well working as a supervisor with a security firm.

Then there’s Kelly, who lost her home after her husband of 35 years announced he wanted a divorce. St. Vincent de Paul CARES found housing for Kelly, which she still lives in today. She’s embraced all the veteran programs we offer and has been able to get some of her health issues taken care of. Kelly was the 3,000th person that friends like you helped house since the COVID shutdown!

It’s because of the support of our donors and CARE Champions, that so many neighbors have been lifted out of homelessness and continue to thrive in homes of their own. SVdP CARES wishes all the best in this New Year and beyond!

This New Year, Give a New Start

Many more people like Leonard, Valerie, and Kelly are ready and hopeful for another chance. Will you give them that chance?
