200 Households Celebrate Permanent Housing

It’s a time of celebration at SVdP CARES, as 200 households have said goodbye to homelessness.

What exactly does that mean? Well, in a time when good news is in high demand (and sometimes short supply), 200 households, made up of families, US veterans and individuals, have escaped the trauma of homelessness since March 17th, when things began to shut down from COVID-19. Case managers continue to work with them, providing counsel and services to ensure they thrive, which can be achieved very immediately but may take 9-months to a year. SVdP CARES never abandons those entrusted to its care.

“To end homelessness for 200 households since the pandemic started in mid-March is really a milestone,” said Michael Raposa, CEO. “We have an amazing team across 16-counties in Florida that are on the front-lines of homelessness every day. With caseloads at over 750, an all-time high, we’re not stopping.”

You are a part of that team! Your support is essential in the fight to end homelessness. Together we are making homelessness rare, brief, and one-time!

“I’m working but my husband was laid off because of COVID, and we didn’t make enough money for most housing complexes. St. Vincent de Paul CARES stepped in and helped us into a great place, just like that! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. My family is forever grateful.”
